Trauma Healing & EMDR Intensives
Intensives deliver deep and lasting relief from long standing wounds and emotional injuries. Whether the distressing event was recent or occurred long ago, this therapeutic format is incredibly effective.
What are EMDR Intensives?
EMDR Trauma Intensives are a powerful approach that integrates several different therapeutic modalities and offers accelerated healing for trauma, anxiety, and depression. Instead of attending therapy for 50 minutes once a week for months, you instead set aside between two to seven days for focused therapeutic work. During this time, you will engage in a deep therapeutic experience tailored to your specific goals and designed to help you heal from past pain.

Each intensive is designed with the individual in mind. Each client’s goals, needs, capacity, concerns, and natural areas of resourcefulness are integrated into the design of the intensive. A 1.5 hr assessment and preparation session will further refine the schedule of the intensive and will help the client feel oriented to how the intensive will unfold.

Multiple, longer EMDR sessions, performed throughout multiple days in a week or weekend, help to maximize the amount of healing and reduce treatment time. New research shows that intensive therapy for trauma and stress can be extremely effective for immediate symptom reduction.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a physiological therapy technique that assists the brain in effectively healing trauma, grief, PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, and various other issues. EMDR Intensives pack the benefits of EMDR therapy into the most effective and efficient method for creating lasting healing change into a short amount of time.
Benefits to EMDR Intensives
-
Intensives eliminate the need for months of living with trauma symptoms and the impacts they have on daily life and general wellbeing.
-
Therapy goals can be achieved in a shorter period of time.
-
Because EMDR Intensives occur over the course of several days, you do not need to schedule weekly time off work or childcare to attend therapy - we can work around your busy life.
-
While there is a larger upfront cost, the shorter duration of treatment over all can save money.
-
Clients who are out of state can take advantage of access to excellent treatment quickly during a trip to Idyllwild, California.
Other Modalities Used in Trauma Intensives
Somatic Experiencing (SE) helps to address post-traumatic symptoms by exploring the body based memories and sensations associated with the traumatic experience. It provides a framework for understanding and normalizing the experience of post traumatic stress. A Somatic Experiencing Practitioner is trained in helping clients release and renegotiate energy from past traumatic or stressful events. EMDR and SE are wonderful when paired together, as SE tools are powerful for providing new resources for clients to use in their day to day life and also helps the client learn how to track their system in real time.

Expressive Arts and Ecotherapy are thoughtfully integrated into the intensive work to support the nervous system in integrating the material as it is moving through the EMDR reprocessing. Expressive Arts provide access to the unconscious mind in a powerful way. You do not have to be an “artist” to benefit from expressive arts. You will be safely guided through exercises that are designed to support the natural consolidation of newly emerging material and self-understanding. Expressive Arts is frequently combined with ecotherapy and working with the elements of nature.
Trauma Intensive Fees and Schedule
Psychotherapy is an investment in yourself that requires money, effort, and commitment. My fee for trauma intensive work is $225 per clinical hour.
90 minutes Preparation Session followed by clinician Intensive Planning: $450
6 hrs/day Trauma Intensive: $1,320/day
Our day typically starts at 10am and ends at 5pm with an hour lunch break. We will take multiple breaks throughout the day as needed for nourishment and self-care. This 6 hr intensive can be broken into 2 consecutive days as needed and desired. You will receive an Intensive Plan following the preparation session so that you can orient to the day(s). You will also receive guidelines for what to bring, how to prepare, and what to expect before, during, and after your Intensive.

Multi-day intensives are often indicated in order to achieve the goals outlined by the client. This is able to be assessed and determined in the preparation session. The cost of additional days is simply the daily fee multiplied by the number of days of the intensive. All intensives include a 50 minute follow up and integration session 2 weeks following the intensive.
A Final Note on Trauma Intensives from Julie Anne
A Trauma Intensive is a life changing experience. There are times when a spiritual component may enter into the therapeutic space. This is welcomed and encouraged. Please let me know if you have a particular spiritual path or connection that you would like to draw on as a resource in our time together ahead of time. Please feel free to bring items, pictures, or symbols as resources.
As a trauma specialist, mine is the art of liberation of the spirit; liberation from all the many ways we can become bound, pretzeled, and less of our authentic, heart-centered selves. Trauma healing is one path to the rediscovery of Self. I am honored to be of service in this way and that you are considering this transformational work.
